I bought a hat! In the past my hat collection has only been winter/fall appropriate because I a beanie fiend, but I saw this one when i was out shopping with my mom and was ready to get some season appropriate headgear. It’s a bit floppy, a bit cowboy, and a bit bohemian with the patterned wrap around. I paired it with the base of an outfit that I’ve probably worn 10 times before to give the pieces a bit of a revival and this fringe necklace that reminds me of a bolo tie. Yee-haw.
Hello, all! I feel like I haven’t worn my good ol’ Nirvana t-shirt in ages (or at least, worn it in an outfit that actually made it onto the blog)! I feel like all of the me’s from my other ootd’s were missing it, so I decided, why not bring that piece of fabulous-ness back, but bring it back bigger and better than before. Then I asked myself “how, do I do that?” Answer: Compose 3 outfits instead of one! Is it original?: no. Did I do it anyway?: Most definitely!
I love my chambray shirt almost as much as I love Bob’s Burger’s Tine Belcher. When I bought it I was under the impression that I’d use it to finally try out denim on denim, yet here I am in a corduroy skirt instead. Sometimes things don’t turn out how you plan. Sometimes the unexpected turnout feels even better.
I am definitely in love with this new star studded t-shirt that I bought last week at CATO Fashions and promptly went on to show in my last post. As of late, I haven’t actually been a fan of buying t-shirts when I want to add to my closet because I already own so many and only wear the same 5 over and over again. Despite my initial reservations, I couldn’t pass on buying this shirt because it combines my love for pretending I’m edgy while wearing studs and pieces that carry simple, but fun prints. Therefore, the was no better way than to show my love for this star studded shirt than with a pair of heart printed jeans.
Yesterday when I was picking out my outfit I came across my trusty old American flag sweater and experienced what I like to call the ‘autumn blues’. The autumn blues are that feeling you get when you realize all of those awesome fall things that you’re missing out on because the weather isn’t appropriate enough for you to enjoy them. These awesome fall things include, but are not exclusive to, vanilla chai tea, chunky scarves, knit tights, peacoats, muted tones of everything, pumpkin spice lattes, and the amazing comfort of sweaters. So, when I picked up that sweater I had a vision of wearing it with a nice pair of shortalls, a black scarf, and some black tights right before my A/C kicked on reminding me that summer is still going strong and leaving me with a case of the autumn blues.
Of course, I wasn’t going to let that hold me back and if I couldn’t have autumn, I figured I might as well enjoy a piece from my autumn collection and wear this delightfully bright sweater. The nearly neon green is just the right kind of fun for the summer and the looser knit has kept me from experiencing too many problems with the heat. Most importantly, I’m getting that refreshing touch of fall in my outfit and that’s enough to keep me going until it gets cool again.
Are any of you guys experiencing the autumn blues and, also, what’s you’re favorite thing about fall?
As my 18th birthday is around the corner, I have recently acquired a new camera in the form of an early birthday present. Unfortunately, new tech does not automatically lead to new skill and I’m still in the process of figuring out how to use it, so please bear with me if all of my photos don’t look as pretty as my photos of Animal Kingdom and Cinderella’s castle.
In other news, I’m in the process of trying to get used to wearing sandals. I’d speculate that these ones that I recently bought from Wet Seal are probably the first pair I’ve been willing to wear in about 5 or 6 years and they have me feeling pretty vulnerable in the toe and foot area. To be honest, I thought my feet had been featured on YouTube star Kingsley’s podcast, because they were feeling pretty “overexposed” the entire time I walked around Disney World in them a couple of weeks ago. Slowly but surely, I am getting used to them in all of their arch support-lacking, studded glory.
Question: Do you guys like sandals in the summer time or do they leave you feeling a bit exposed? I need to know that I’m not the only one who thinks like this.
This dress represents a couple of firsts for me, the main one being the first item that I’ve ever purchased from Kohl’s. Apparently, I’m very late in the game on shopping there in comparison to the rest of my friend group in shopping there as it proved itself to be the perfect statement to use in games of “never have I ever”.
I personally don’t “get” the store. I don’t understand Kohl’s, but a giftcard for the store recently fell into my hands as a graduation present from my mom and, after going through the website, I was immediately drawn to this dress (i.e. my first “bib” dress). The floral print was so bold and kind of Lana Del Rey-esque and I was immediately into it. I still don’t understand Kohl’s, but I do understand my love for this dress.
I will never fail to be interested in the idea of wearing strictly black in the summer. I already have an obsessions with all black outfits (which is typically set back by the lack of all black garments in my closet) because it makes me feel effortlessly cool and a little bit like a secret agent about to go on a mission, but there’s something about wearing it in the middle of summer heat that just gives it an extra kick. Perhaps it makes me feel a bit like a rebel for wearing dark colors in the sunniest times or maybe it could just be that I’m somewhat of a masochist and enjoy the torture that is being warmer than necessary. It could just be that I enjoy just how impractical the outfits are for the weather. I am quite easily pleased.
I had goals for this summer. I had goals that said that I would do more posts now that I didn’t have the excuse of being busy for 7 hours a day with school. I also had goals that included getting in shape. All these goals have awarded me is a camera full of photos for posts that I was too lazy to put up and a pair of gym shorts that I wore grocery shopping instead of to any fitness oriented area. I think I’m kind of winning the lottery at life right now.
