Hello all and happy Thursday! If you have checked out my new YouTube channel, you would have seen that I’ve recently posted up a clothing haul which includes this lovely gem of a scarf I have on right now. I’m not a huge scarf person, but lightweight and printed infinity scarves are a great summer accessory. They’re light enough to keep you from catching on fire in the summer sun and you get an easy way to play around with prints and colors. I paired this one with a pair of shortalls (because shortalls = life), a simple black tank, and these tennis shoes I picked up last night.
It has rained so much in the past week that after over a month of stressing about exhausting my summer clothing collection, I am finally back to wearing sweaters. I am very, very okay with this transition. I am a sweater gal, through and through and nothing pleases me more than being cuddled by the warm embrace of knitwear. Though quite simple, this outfit is giving me life merely because sweaters + skirts are one of my go-to outfit combinations. So thank you sweater and cool weather gods for gracing me with this wonderful opportunity.
It is officially my move-out day, so I decided to wear a very fun and easy outfit. And what is more fun and easy than a pair of shortalls? I paired them with a very flowy top for air circulation (got to keep it breathable) and a pair of boots so I can save my toes when I inevitably drop a heavy box on top of them. This also doubles as an awesome festival look. I’m all for a multipurpose outfit.
This dress is an oldie but a goody that I, for some strange reason, rarely ever use in any OOTD posts. I previously mentioned it as a dress I got for Easter, but as of late, I’ve been wearing it for anything but that occasion. It offers a nice swash of brightness to every outfit, but with little effort since it’s simply a “one-some”. It also is a very nice and soft shade of coral, which is kind of my jam. I threw on one of my favorite cardigans for protection from that cool spring breeze and this outfit became a definite winner in my eyes.
How is it that I’ve managed to go so long in my life without actually owning any casual dresses? The last time I purchased a “casual” dress was at least 2 years ago for Easter and while I do love it, it is definitely not something that I wear that often. I have a love for being pants-less and I felt that it was about time that I combined that love with my love for quick outfits. Thus, I picked up this new item made of sewn together pieces of fabric from Forever 21 during their spring break sale. As you probably know if you’ve been on my blog for a while, I am a huge fan of florals, though the use of it in this dress is a lot more subtle than what I am used to. Again, I decided to pair that floral aesthetic with shoes that have a bit more hardware to them and my American Flag beanie in order to keep up with that casual vibe.
There’s nothing better for warm weather than a good ol’ fashion overall dress with a sleeveless blouse. You get the youthfulness from the dress to keep everything light and airy and the business of a shirt with buttons and a collar. Like, really, please start calling me Hannah Montana because I am definitely receiving the best of both worlds. I decided to spruce it up a bit and play on the darkness of the dress’s background by adding accessories that had edgier detailing. The fringe and open zippers on the bag and the studs on the sandal add a fun dimension to what was already a very soft and more pastel toned look. I can dig it.
As you all can probably tell from the fact that I have made yet another post with the word “spring” in the title, I am very excited to delve into the new season! Strangely enough, this outfit does contrast with my general perception of “spring vibes,” because it includes a lot of more muted tones instead of bright splashes of color or soft pastels. I played on that conflict by pairing a sweater that I usually get the most use out of in the spring with the deeper reds, olive, and leather presented in the rest of the ensemble. All together it created a very muted spring look.
Today I had the pleasure of starting my day off with an exam and decided to bring some spring cheer with me while I tested. I buttoned up my soft blue blouse (because shirts with buttons say that I’m ready for business) and threw on my trusty Girl Scout cardigan and allowed the power of spring and female encouragement to take me through those 50 minutes of sadness. I also wore a pair of sneakers for the first time in at least 3 months. They’ve got happy pandas on them, but when I made them I did not use permanent markers or fabric markers so the blue from the clouds above them has began running into their eyes. Now they look like the pandas are doing some weird type of reverse crying, but that is okay because who hasn’t ever had a nice reverse cry?
At this time last week I was lacing up my boots to deal with the snow that was still on the ground and now it’s 70 degrees outside. This means that not only have I been blessed with a bit of an early spring, but I finally get to whip out my good ol’ shortalls! I may have classed them up a bit with a nice necklace and a pair of loafers, yet I still can’t help feeling as if I should give my green pepper garden another try. They just add a nice laid-back and casual vibe to every outfit I make with them. Throw in my new fuzzy sweater from F21 (which has allowed me to take a break from being a chic yeti, and stroll into country yeti territory) and I’ve got my go-to combo for spring.
What is your go-to or favorite item for Spring?
My school hosted and awards ceremony today and as an awards recipient I was told that the dress code was ‘professional’ hence my lace blazer. I gladly took on the task of wearing it today and came to the realization that it is the perfect accessory to add to my spring wardrobe despite the fact that I have spent the past 3 or 4 months completely oblivious to the fact that it was even in my wardrobe. It’s lightweight, lace, white, and embodies everything I love about spring! I feel like I’ve just had a wonderful reunion with an old friend. 🙂
And in other news, I should have some new posts of assorted varieties coming out soon! There’s going to be a nail tutorial, a fancy outfit post, and my very first review, so be sure to watch out for those!
