I have a love of sweaters that runs so great that I don’t even have a need for them to be functional anymore. This sweater does nothing to keep me warm in this emerging winter cold and I decided to continue the trend of non-winter-functional pieces by layering it over top of this pastel, floral sleeveless button-down. I’m on this new kick of pulling my summer pieced into winter wear because I like a challenge (read: my wardrobe is not as expansive as I wish it was). Don’t limit your clothes to the season friends. Mix and match to your heart’s content. Live your dreams.
I’ve got floral fever. Last time you guys saw me, I was embracing the wonderful lifestyle of Flower Power Forever and today I can assure you that nothing has changed. It’s been a bit rainy and gloomy so I decided to opt for a nice oversized sweater with this simple zipper detailing, but at the end of the day I am a creature of habit. I said yes to those floral print pants and I feel no shame from it. Continue on my fellow floral lovers. Continue on in your greatness. ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀
I discovered the most interesting thing last night when I picked out this outfit: I have never posted this sweater on my blog. I received it as a Christmas gift from my mom back in December (and by Christmas gift, I mean we went to the mall and I picked out the sweater and she told me it was my Christmas gift now) and ever since I got it, I have been obsessed with it. I love more open knits because they’re so breathable and effortlessly casual. I also like the fact that it has fully functioning zippers on the front and a subtle high-low cut going on at the hem.
Like, this sweater is my everything and I wear it all the time, particularly in this exact setup. Running late to class? Throw on this sweater and these jeggings. Have a final exam? Throw on this sweater and these jeggings. My friends randomly want me to go get breakfast with them? Throw on this sweater and these jeggings. In my life, I have two go-to outfit combinations that never let me down: t-shirt + cardigan + skater skirt and this sweater + these jeggings. I’ve posted so many variations of the former on here and now I am glad to finally get to introduce you all to my other love, my ultimate OTP for when it’s not a sauna outside.
I actually generally refer to this sweater as more of an early spring piece than a fall one because it is so incredibly bright and the sleeves don’t reach my hands. That being said, this is one of my favorite sweaters (and one of the few sweaters I actually brought to college with me) because it still can work during the transition into colder weather and adds a little bit of joy to an outfit. I’m also currently loving my new tights from Forever 21 and always look for an excuse to wear them. They’re a nice burgundy/oxblood color and are perfect for creating an overall fall and winter aesthetic. Just get me a nice cup of cocoa and maybe a pair of mittens and I’d say that this outfit would look cool enough to give the weather outside a run for its money.
I’ve taken quite a liking to Forever 21’s nail polishes in Gold Confetti (the one I’m wearing in the photo) and Moody Purple!
What pieces complete your cold weather aesthetic?
I recently haven’t been too pleased with the weather, as it is mid-October, yet the temperature was still in the 80s. Luckily, mother nature came through for me and it rained and everything cooled off and I was finally able to break out a warm cardigan! While this isn’t my favorite fall look, I do still appreciate the overall vibe of it, especially with that “touch of edge” from my new ankle booties from Charlotte Russe that I have been wearing non-stop. And now, let the weather appropriate fall looks begin!
