Hello lovely people! This Saturday was my school’s prom and rather than paying over $100 for a dress that I would undoubtedly only have reason to wear once, I decided to rent mine from renttherunway.com. I found that the idea of renting was more of a practical choice for me and also offered the opportunity for me to be able to wear a dress that would normally be out of my price range without breaking the bank.
Choosing my dress was made easy as the site has you put in all of your body information such as height, weight, bust size, your usual dress size, and your body type. From there it helps you pick out dresses that are right for you and shows you reviews from women have similar measurements (which I found to be particularly helpful). After you find a dress you like, you choose your size, see if it’s available for the dates you need it for and, if it is, you can order it and also pick up a second size of the dress for free in case the first size is too large or too small.
My dress was the Vermelho Olinda Gown by Carlos Miele which was stunning, though the strap on the dress appeared to be made for a taller person, so it was a little loose and saggy. While I loved my dress and received compliments on it all night, I did not receive my free second size because it was damaged before it could be shipped out to me and there was no replacement for me to receive. I was offered the opportunity to get another free dress to replace my second one regardless of cost, but the notice I was given was so short that few dresses were available, though I did go on to order the Award Winner Gown by Badgley Mischka which was a different kind of gorgeous, though that dress never arrived as it too was damaged before it could be sent out to me as well.
All in all, I give my Rent the Runway experience a 3.5 out of 5. I loved my dress, the price was amazing (about $58 to rent an $884 gown), but I did not enjoy all of the anxiety I experienced because of all the mishaps I experienced.
Have any of you ever rented a dress or outfit before? How was your experience?
My school hosted and awards ceremony today and as an awards recipient I was told that the dress code was ‘professional’ hence my lace blazer. I gladly took on the task of wearing it today and came to the realization that it is the perfect accessory to add to my spring wardrobe despite the fact that I have spent the past 3 or 4 months completely oblivious to the fact that it was even in my wardrobe. It’s lightweight, lace, white, and embodies everything I love about spring! I feel like I’ve just had a wonderful reunion with an old friend. 🙂
And in other news, I should have some new posts of assorted varieties coming out soon! There’s going to be a nail tutorial, a fancy outfit post, and my very first review, so be sure to watch out for those!
What item in your closet is your go-to for spring?
I rarely ever wear scarves just for general accessory purposes rather than neck warmth, but it’s Easter and the color of this scarf greatly reminded me of an Easter egg so I decided to nick it from my mom for the day (which seems to be something that I do with a lot of her clothing). I feel like it adds a nice dash of color and is very subtly thematic which is perfect for the type of laid back and chill Easter that I plan to have today. That being said, I decided to go for a first today, and introduce a casual and a more dressed up version of the outfit which also has a bit of a sneak peek of a piece for my prom look which you all will see either next Sunday or the following Monday. Have a happy Sunday! 🙂
This outfit is by far one of the most artsy ones I’ve worn in a while. I decided to rock my favorite combo of floral prints and plaid, mainly because I temporarily misplaced my pearl headband and decided to grab my new floral print one from F21 to take its place, and am completely pleased with the outcome. It’s both parts cute and comfortable, which is always a sign of a good outfit in my book.
Long time no blogging guys! I’d like to say that I’ve been super busy and that has kept me away from posting (which is only true for this week, since I was away in Nashville for the greater portion of it and am trying to catch up with my school work now), but I’ve really just been overall lazy and of the impression that none of my outfits were nice enough to necessitate me posting them. Fortunately, I’m feeling good about this one and am embracing my love for spring florals after purchasing a very lovely pink, floral bow headband from Forever 21. I decided to embrace the whole theme and girliness of the piece be wearing it with my floral jeans as well and can confidently say that I feel like a beautiful flower. I am now of the opinion that this headband will definitely turn out to be my go-to spring piece, which makes me wonder, what is your go-to spring piece?
